What are the steps to make an album?
There are 4 steps.
What do you do with my photos?
The short answer is: nothing. Once you get your album done, you download it, and erase it from our server, your photos are gone. The drawback is that you can't use us to backup your photo collection, nor to share your albums online with your friends, but you get the peace of mind that your photos remain solely in your possession.
Is your web site secure?
We are using the SSL/TLS protocol to protect your activity on our server. Your password, and any operation you do while you are on our server is protected. When you access our web site using http://www.instantphotoalbum.com, you'll notice that you will be redirected to the url: https://www.instantphotoalbum.com.
Do you guarantee total privacy?
We are trying to do the best we can. If you don't leave your photos on our server, it protects you from online accessibility. But some data get hijacked during the uploading and downloading processes, and this applies to the Internet as a whole.
Can I print an album?
Yes, if you choose another format optimized for printing. Go to Advanced Options, and Format. You can send the album directly to your printer, or copy it to a storage device and bring it to a store that will print it for you.
Is there a special meaning to the colors of the buttons?
Yes, the color green is for things that you should be doing. Yellow and Orange are for things you can do but don't have to. Red is for things that you should think about before doing.
Internet Explorer 7 doesn't let me choose multiple photos for upload. I can only upload one photo at a time.
If you are using XP, you may install Chrome that will let you pick several photos at the same time.
When I click on a description, it doesn't get saved. The screen is stuck. I can't put a description. Using Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP.
Internet Explorer 7 on XP doesn't work with instantphotoalbum.com. You should use another browser, such as Firefox or Chrome.
When trying to produce an album with Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP, I get a dialog box asking me if I want to save the 'make' page.
This is another bug coming from Internet Explorer 7. Please use a newer version, or Firefox, Chrome or Safari, instead for instantphotoalbum.com.
It used to work on the iPad with IOS7. It doesn't work any more since I upgraded to IOS 8.
It only affected IOS 8.0.1. This problem has been fixed with the release of IOS 8.0.2. You should now be able to use instantphotoalbum.com again with an IOS device.
The names of the pictures appear to be identical
This is the way Apple has implemented the photo gallery on the iPad. Your photos will be fine, and you'll be able to create a photo album without distinct file names for the pictures. We renumber the pictures as they get uploaded.
When I click on PDF, it says the file is being downloaded and nothing happens.
The file is being downloaded in the background, and can be open with a PDF reader on your device.
When I move photos around, they come back where they were. It doesn't seem possible to change the order of the photos.
This happens when you use the native Internet browser on Android 2.3.4. An alternative that works is to download Firefox for Android and use it for photo albums. It is slow, but it works.
I can't select several pictures at the same time for upload on my Android phone.
We know about this. It depends on the smartphone brands. We may develop a specific version for Android (as well as for IOS) in the future if there is a popular demand for it.
I am using the UC Browser in Android, and I get an error while uploading photos.
We will keep you posted.
When the photos get imported, the order seems to be random.
Photos get imported depending on how the Internet connection works. If all your photos come from the same camera and file names are in sequential order, you can press the button [Rearrange all photos] to put them in chronological order. You may individually move the photos around, to put them in an order that is more meaningful to you. But beware: Once you press the [Rearrange all photos] button, you will lose the order you set up yourself. Rearrange all first, before starting to tweak the order!
I would like to have more than 3 photos in a row. It's difficult to move photos around where there are many photos to play with.
We don't have this flexibility built-in now. We have designed this application so that it can work at the same time on a smart phone, a tablet, and a laptop or desktop screen. We will add new features depending on popular demand, in the limits of what's technically doable!
In the album, the photos are not ordered the same way as on my page.
We just discovered that this might happen, although rarely. A quick way to fix it is to move photos around, and back to the position where you want them. Then re-create your album, and it should be in the proper order.
Some of my photos come up rotated, although they appear to be oriented correctly when I choose them.
Some photos have been modified and would not orient automatically in the right position. Please use the orientation button below the photo to rotate it manually.
When I rotate several times, the image disappears. Instead I see a white rectangle with the buttons on top instead of at the bottom.
Just refresh the page and your picture will appear. Sometimes the server doesn't have time to update quickly enough to reflect your actions. This may happen especially if your Internet connection gets slowed down.
When the photo is rotated, it goes in the wrong direction.
Rotation occurs clockwise. You may need to press 3 times the rotate button before you get the correct orientation.
I can move photos around with my mouse, but they come back to their original location.
This feature will work if you have an up-to-date browser. Try to update your browser to a more recent version. That is likely to fix the problem. If that happens on an Android phone with the native Internet browser, download Firefox for Android and use it with instantphotoalbum. This may work better.
Can I post an album to my Facebook account?>
No, if it is an individual account. Yes, if it is a group account. Facebook is not meant to exchange documents. You can of course post individual photos to Facebook, and reserve the use of instantphotoalbum.com for sending emails with the albums attached to a limited number of your friends.
Can I enrich text in the descriptions?
Not now. We're keeping it simple. If there is a lot of demand for it, we'll revisit this.
Is there a limit to the size of the text I can create describing each photograph?
We have not set a limit so far. The worst that can happen is that the text goes to the next page and the next photograph gets moved down.
I would like to see the site in my own language.
Tell us which language you would like the site to be translated on. We'll respond to popular demand.
I am using the French version. Almost everything is in French, but some text is in English.
It's because it's text that has been updated before the translation. We are aware of it.
I'd like to change the presentation of my albums. How do I do that?
Instant Photo Album, as the name indicates, is about providing ways to create albums very quickly. Other sites will let you customize the appearance of your album in many ways, if that's what you are looking for. However, if we hear about new types of presentations that our customers are looking for, we may decide to offer them as another option. Please be precise about your needs.
When creating albums, photos are difficult to move around.
Smartphones can be used with instantphotoalbum, but you may find it not as comfortable as tablets or computers. What you can do is upload your photos from your phone, and then arrange them with your tablet or laptop. Just use the same user name, and the same password to log in.
Can I use my smartphone to look at an album I created on my computer or tablet?
Yes. Just send yourself an email to your phone with the album attached. Save the attachment, and that's it. That's actually probably the preferred way to look at your albums, for now. Still, be aware that data on your cell phone can be hacked, so if you care about privacy, think about it.
Can I upload video files I'd like to share? And what about music?
We are only managing photographs for now. The uploading times are much lower than other file types. We could develop other applications to do so, but it's likely that we would drop the word "instant", in the current state of the technology!
Screen goes blank.
If the screen goes blank randomly, it is likely that it is due to the weaknesses of an Internet connection.
Some of the photos come very small on the albums, where others are OK.
This problem has now been fixed. If you are still experiencing issues with the size of the rendered photos, please contact us by email.
Which photo formats are accepted?
So far, JPEG, PNG, GIF and PSD.
I can import my photos but they are not output in the album
This is probably due to the fact that the photo format is not among the accepted formats. Let us know when that happens. We are working on adding new photo formats.
I have a camera on my phone/tablet. I have my photos automatically stored there. What else do I neeed?
You may end up with thousands of photos which are difficult to retrieve. Try showing to someone you know one photo in particular.
I already organize my photos many different ways, into collections. Why would I need something else?
Yes, you can, but the formats in which your photos are stored depend on your device. If you change device, you'll have to do it again.
On the social sites I use, I can restrict access to certain photo albums to the people I want.
Yes, but the terms of service of the various companies often require you to accept that your photos get used for certain purposes. In addition, any photo site on the cloud can be hacked, and you don't know who will eventually access your photos.
I am not receiving email from instantphotoalbum.com. I can't activate my account. What should I do?
First, check your spam inbox. Because instantphotoalbum.com is a new web site, it has not yet reached full recognition by all Internet Service Providers. Second, try to sign up with an alternate email account. Some Internet Service Providers may block email coming from us. If that still doesn't work, please send us an email at email@example.com and we'll activate your account during business hours EST (East Coast of the United States).
I don't receive my albums by email.
Make sure you are using the same email address you signed up to start with. Check your spam inbox. If it's not there, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll help you figure out a way to make it work.
From my cell phone browser I get a Forbidden Error 403.
You need to allow cookies on your browser. Go to your settings, and enable cookies.
